PET LIMITS THREATEN THE RIGHTS OF PET CARETAKERS
Update -- NO ATTORNEY FOR SEPTEMBER 9th TRIAL

AND for more details (and to order a support button!)
http://trappedcats.com/

UPDATE AS OF SEPT 5: *ATTORNEY OREN LEIB NO LONGER REPRESENTING JEN SMITH* With the trial this Tuesday, we will enter the court room without an attorney. Oren Leib announced on 8/11/08 that he was closing his private practice, accepting a new job, and would be unable to represent us. With NO legal counsel to guide us, we have no idea what to expect on 9/9 in the court room. Our fear is that the case will simply be dismissed, Brooklawn will force this foster home to close, and the lives of the foster animals at Jen Smith's home will be jeopardy. FFRV and Jen Smith cannot financially afford to pay for daily fines that may be imposed by Brooklawn should this case be dismissed. We do NOT have open foster home space for these animals, nor do local rescues or animal shelters: There is no safe place for these animals to go! FFRV has been searching for a new attorney, but, only given several weeks notice by Mr. Leib, and his inability to be removed properly as the attorney of record, we have been unable to secure representation. At this time, FFRV is in need of an attorney, as well as funding to pay for one (we had counted on Mr. Leib and his pro-bono services). We also will need funding to pay for what we expect to be daily fines while we search desperately for alternatives OTHER then death for these fostered, rescued animals.
